Active
A card must be active for its game text to be in effect and for it to be able to be spotted. In order to be active, a card must be in play (cards in your hand, discard pile, adventure deck and are not considered active). During your turn, your Free Peoples cards are active and your opponent's Shadow cards are active; during your opponent's turn, your opponent's Free Peoples cards are active and your Shadow cards are active. All site cards that are in play on the adventure path are considered active. All other cards are inactive, and cannot be spotted or their game text used. Occasionally in a multiplayer game, two copies of the same unique Shadow condition may be in play at the same time. Only the first copy of a unique Shadow condition (or the first 4 copies of a non-unique Shadow condition) closest to the right of the Free Peoples player are in effect at any time. All other copies are also active, but their game text is ignored.
