Assignment Phase

In the assignment phase, players alternate taking assignment actions, beginning with the Free Peoples player, then followed by each Shadow player, until all players consecutively pass in their action (see the Action Procedure). You may not use assignment actions to assign a minion to a companion or ally already skirmishing another minion, unless there are no more companions or allies left to be assigned. Once all players have passed, the Free Peoples player may assign minions not already assigned to skirmish companions (or allies who are able to participate in skirmishes). The Free Peoples player may assign no more than one minion to each companion. After making regular assignments, if any companions have the "Defender" keyword, an additional minion may be assigned to those companions for each "+1" they have to their defender total. If the Free Peoples player passes on assignment or for any reason does not assign all of the minions, any remaining unassigned minions are assigned by the Shadow player(s). The Shadow player(s) may assign any unassigned minions to any of the Free Peoples player's companions or allies, even to those who may have already had a minion assigned to them. The first Shadow player to the right of the Free Peoples player may assign his minions first, and so on counter-clockwise. Once all players have either passed or assigned their minions, the assignment phase ends. fierce assignment phases operate exactly the same way as normal assignment phases, though only fierce minions participate in them.
