Companion

Companions are character cards, and represent the heroes of Middle-earth who may accompany Frodo, the Ring-bearer, on his quest. Your fellowship may be composed only of companions. Companions are denoted by the "Companion" card type text underneath their picture, often followed by their race. Like all cards, each Companion has a twilight cost in its upper left corner, in a small silver circle. You may start the game with companions totaling no more than 4 twilight, and your fellowship must include Frodo (or another companion that can be the Ring-Bearer instead of Frodo). Throughout the game, you may have no more than 9 total companions in play and in your dead pile. This does not include companions in your discard pile. Companions may be unique or non-unique. Many companions have a signet in their bottom left corner.

Starting with War Of The Ring Block, all companions have Resistance values located below the vitality gem, where many cards have signets. If you do not see a printed value for that companion's Resistance, the number 6 is used as the default printed value.
