The Launcher
The Launcher checks to see if your software is current and files are present and if not, downloads any updates or files and installs them prior to starting the game. When you first launch the game you will see the Launcher window (see below) and the Launcher will start in 5 seconds (or immediately if you select 'start'). You can select 'Exit' if you wish to cancel out of the Lancher or 'Configure' to alter your connection settings.
If you are behind a firewall, you may need to use a Web Proxy or SOCKS5 Proxy to properly download updated files. Enter your proxy host's name into the field provided in the Configuration window. If you are using a Web Proxy, use the default Port of 80 and if you are using a SOCKS5 Proxy, use the default Port of 1080. (It's possible that you or a network administrator have changed the default ports used). If your proxy requires a Username or Password, enter that information. You can double-check your setup by clicking the 'Test' button.
Updates are made infrequently, and most will be no more than a few megabytes in size, so should be quick to download (even via modem). Occasionally there will be a large update and it may take some time to download.
If the Launcher is closed while it is updating a file, the file you were most recently downloading will not be updated. The next time you start the Launcher, the updating will pick up where it left off. So should you have a system crash or some other problem while patching, just run the Launcher again.
After downloading any updates, the updater will show you a list of the changes made. Be sure to read this list as it might include changes made to reflect current rulings. Clicking the "OK" button from this display will start the game itself, bringing up the Main Menu.
