Ring-bearer

Only certain companions are able to bear the Ring. These companions are denoted with the keyword Ring-bearer in their game text or a gold ring around their Resistance icon. All versions of Frodo are Ring-bearers, and some versions of Sam may become Ring-bearers upon use of Sam's response special ability. If your Ring-bearer is corrupted or killed, you immediately lose the game. The exception to this rule is if Sam is in play when Frodo is killed (not corrupted). In that case, you may use Sam's response action to make Sam the new Ring-bearer. This is the only way that The One Ring can be transferred.
