Site
For Standard and War Of The Ring Block games
The adventure deck consists of a set of nine site cards representing the various locations in Middle Earth where the Ring-bearer and companions will travel. Each Site card has a Shadow Number and game text that may be a phase action or an on-going effect that lasts while the fellowship is at the site. Most sites will have unloaded keywords such as forest, dwelling or marsh that may affect other cards. When the fellowship moves along the site path and the next site is not yet on the path, the opponent plays the next site for his or her adventure deck and can choose any of the sites in that deck to play next. Unlike Fellowship, Tower and King block games (see below), the Sites in War Of The Ring block and beyond do not have printed Site Numbers and need not be played in any particular order. If you play Moria Stairway as the fifth site on the path, Moria Stairway becomes Site 5 for that particular game.
For Fellowship, Tower and King Block games
The adventure deck consists of a set of nine site cards. Each of those must have a different site number (the number in the compass in the top left corner of the card), with one card for each number from 1 to 9. Sanctuary sites, currently numbered 3 or 6, have a gray border template, while other sites have a tan border template. Sites from blocks other than the Fellowship block have a special icon above their site number, and are referred to as site 1[T], rather than simply site 1, to distinguish them from Fellowship sites. If a card refers to a site number without The Two Towers symbol, it is referring to the Fellowship site, rather than The Two Towers site of the same number. For example, an ally from the Fellowship block that has a home site of 2 will not be able to participate in archery or skirmishes (unless allowed to do so by the game text of another card) when playing with The Two Towers site path, because this ally's home site does not appear.
