Strength

Every character has a strength value, found in the sword-and-shield icon in the bottom left corner of its card. Strength is used to determine the winner of a skirmish. The winner of a skirmish is the side whose characters have the greatest total strength, once all events and other strength bonuses have been added. All ties go to the Shadow side and its minions.
