Tournaments
Tournaments can be entered from the Sanctioned Tournament Lobby, reachable from the Main Lobby. The Sanctioned Tournament Lobby is where you join both constructed and draft queue tournaments.
Constructed Tournaments
Constructed queue tournaments cost five Event Passes to enter, and offer as prizes five booster packs to the winner, four to second place, three to third place, two to fourth place, and one to all other players. The type of booster packs provided as prizes is listed in the "Prize Pool" column. Event Passes are available at the online store.
When you join a queue tournament, a tournament queue window showing all the players currently in that queue will appear. That window will also contain a chat area that will allow people in that queue to talk amongst each other.
When the tournament queue contains eight or more people, a tournament will automatically be started. When the tournament is started, a pop-up window will appear showing the people in the tournament, and who they are matched against in the first round.
A round ends when all games in that round have ended. This will take at most 45 minutes - the time limit for all single-player tournament games - but may occur more quickly if all games are won or lost. All games in queue tournaments are timed.
After each round a pop-up window similar to that announcing the first round will appear, announcing the next round, current scores, and the upcoming pairings. There is a delay of two minutes between each round, to allow all players a short break.
While you are in a tournament, but not currently playing a game, you may not play in another game, but may use any other area of the application, such as the Deck Builder or Collection Manager. You may enter a trade session. When the next round of your tournament starts, you will be brought back to the tournament area immediately. Any activity you are currently undertaking, such as a trade session you are in or a deck you are editing, will be cancelled immediately, and you will have no chance to save your deck or complete the trade. You will see the pop-up window announcing the next round two minutes prior to this, and will be able to use this time to end that current activity.
At the end of the tournament, a pop-up window will appear with the final standings, including each player's points. Prize packs will be delivered within a few minutes of the tournament ending, and will appear in the same card delivery window as purchased packs.
You may drop from a tournament at any time by typing "/drop" in any chat window. This will concede the current game, if you are playing one, and remove you from the tournament entirely. If you drop from a tournament, you will not receive any prizes for that tournament.
Draft Tournaments
Draft tournaments work similarly to Constructed Tournamants, but require that participants bring a draft pack and three boosters to each match. The draft pack must match the draft block (i.e. a Tower draft match requires a Tower draft pack), and usually the three boosters will include one from each set in that block (though particular types of Draft may specify a different number of boosters). Clicking on each draft queue will display the exact requirements, in both event passes and packs, to enter that draft match. See Draft Play for more detail.
